This year saw the 19th edition of the International Journalism Festival in Perugia, Italy. The five-day event brings together thousands of journalists and media people in the Umbrian town to discuss present (and pressing) media issues, as well as the future of journalism.

Our Jochen Spangenberg (Deutsche Welle) and Alexandre Alaphilippe from EU DisinfoLab, were there, too. Jochen had organized and then moderated the session “Technology and automation in the fight against misinformation” which also featured European co-funded research untertakings in that sphere such as InVID and WeVerify.

Jochen and Alexandre were joined on the panel by Hazel Baker from news agency Reuters and Guido Bülow from Facebook.

The four discussed the role of technology in the verification and factchecking process, including current and future challenges. If you want to watch the session in full, you can do so right here
